Practical steps towards better outcomes.
Printing relies on paper, inks, energy, machinery and other materials, all of which have an environmental footprint. We believe it’s important to acknowledge that reality rather than suggest printing can be entirely impact-free.
At Urban Impression Collective, our approach is to consider opportunities to reduce unnecessary waste, make efficient use of materials and explore more responsible production options where they’re practical and suitable for the job.
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing consideration, not a box to tick. As materials, technologies and production methods continue to develop, we want to remain open to improvements that make sense for our business and our customers.
Small steps add up.
There are opportunities throughout the printing process to consider how resources are used. These are four areas we aim to prioritise when making production and purchasing decisions.

Responsible Sourcing
Where suitable options are available, we consider paper stocks and other materials with recycled content or recognised responsible sourcing credentials, while balancing quality, suitability and customer requirements.

Reducing Waste
Careful planning, appropriate print quantities and efficient use of materials can help limit unnecessary waste. We aim to consider these factors throughout production and look for opportunities to improve how leftover materials are managed.

Efficient Production
Different printing methods suit different projects. By considering the quantity, format and finishing requirements of each job, we aim to select practical production approaches that make effective use of our equipment and resources.

Helping Our Customers
Customers can make more informed choices when they understand their options. We're happy to discuss paper stocks, print quantities, finishes and other considerations that may help reduce unnecessary materials without compromising the purpose of the finished product.
A continued focus on improvement.
We understand that responsible business practices develop over time. New materials, production technologies and ways of working create opportunities to review established processes and consider whether improvements can be made.
Our intention is to keep learning, remain open to better options and make practical changes where they are achievable.
We won’t claim that printing has no environmental impact. Instead, we believe in being transparent about the nature of our industry and taking a considered approach to the decisions within our control.
